Kurt Gibbons last month bought an elevated 3.1396-hectare block, which had been marketed by Colliers, off Hansen Rd.
Situated above the Country Lane retail precinct, the site also overlooks the Five Mile shopping centre on the other side of the Frankton-Ladies Mile highway.
Gibbons says he’s looking at some affordable housing options on the rear portion, which has a medium density residential zoning, and a commercial building in the lower front portion, which enjoys a business mixed use zoning.
He’s hoping to attract large tenants for a single-level office building that’d have a big glass frontage "so you’re just looking at the Remarkables all day".
Meanwhile, he’s happy with progress on his Five Mile Villas on the Frankton Flats, by the Remarkables Residences complex, that’ll comprise 226 two-level, two-bedroom units.
"Roofs are going on the first 13 homes and we’ve got another 24 slabs going down this month," he says.
"We’ve had 2.3 times the average rainfall, which has delayed us a bit, but with the nice weather we’re getting lately we’re rocketing along."
The first 13 homes will be complete before Christmas, though titles won’t be ready by then, he adds.
And marketing starts this week on Gibbons’ other local housing complex, Lakehouse Villas.
It comprises 63 exclusive villas at 633 Frankton Rd, stepped down between the highway and the Frankton Track.
