Craig McCaw was named Sportsperson of the Year at the East Otago Community Sports Awards, which were presented at the East Otago Events Centre in Waikouaiti on Friday.

McCaw has been an outstanding representative of the Palmerston Bowls Club over the 2013-14 season.

He won the Dunedin Centre open men's pairs, the regional open pairs (Zone 6, Timaru to Invercargill), and was Otago singles winner for the 15th consecutive year. McCaw is an Otago representative and gained second place in the National open men's pairs.

He was also named Sportsman of the Year at the East Otago awards.

Kate O'Connell, squash and golf player, won Sportswoman of the Year award, while athlete Noni Callander won the Masters Sportsperson of the Year award.

Jeff Grubb won the Services to Rugby and Cricket category.

The Waikouaiti Golf Club was named Team of the Year. Johnny Bell, Andrew Neilson and Neil Martin won the group award of Coach of the Year for rugby coaching.
