Arrowtown's Night ‘n Day food store has just received a huge belated birthday present.

Having turned 32 in August, the Buckingham St outlet, owned by father and son Alan and Hamish Garrick, was last month named store of the year — out of 53 others across the country — at the annual conference at Invercargill’s Transport World.

The Garricks, who also own Night ‘n Day Kawarau, at Kawarau Park, and Queenstown’s Night ‘n Day Church St and Shotover St, attribute their success to their exceptional staff and the support from the local community.

It stood out for its "outstanding presentation" and dedication to continuous improvement, with high staff engagement evidence of their consistent approach to meeting the demands of the local market.

Coupled with a commitment to compliance excellence, the award recognises the Arrowtown store exemplifies "top-tier performance", and dedication to customers and standards.

The store of the year runner-up was Night ‘n Day Winton, while Night ‘n Day Alexandra was also a finalist.

Meantime, Foodfirst was named Night ‘n Day supplier of the year — an award voted for by franchisees — in recognition of their work to consistently ensure reliable stock, scaling their operations to align with Night ‘n Day’s growth over the years.
