Feedback is being sought on a draft plan to make Wānaka and Queenstown places more welcoming.

The Queenstown Lakes District Council recently released its three-year "welcoming plan", which focuses on people being able to thrive.

Community and services committee chairman and councillor Craig Ferguson said people were arriving in the district from all over the world, and from New Zealand.

Migrants were making Queenstown Lakes their home and contributing to the district’s diverse and vibrant communities, Cr Ferguson said.

"A welcoming plan provides a pathway to support equality and grow inclusive local communities, so we can continue to evolve as a place that celebrates diversity, supports wellbeing and fosters economic growth," he said.

It was important to hear from different groups and people, especially those interested in playing a role in delivering any of the proposed actions, Cr Ferguson said.

The plan would be discussed at two evening hui.

One was held in Queenstown on  Wednesday and the next is in Wānaka next Wednesday.

Community feedback closes on Thursday, August 22.

The community and services committee will consider the plan for adoption in late September.
