Clutha District War Memorial and Community Centre Te Pou ō Mata-Au’s first Clutha District Youth Council disco was "an absolute blast — music, games and food, what more could you ask for?" organisers said.

Students from around the district came to support last Friday night’s fundraiser, set up by the youth council, with all proceeds going to Rotary’s Balclutha Bridge Park project to reinstate the flying fox.

Balclutha Rotary members were on site, sizzling sausages, while music and dancing thumped through the civic centre’s auditorium for a year 7-8 disco and year 9-10 social, which raised $507.

"Thanks to all the students who came and supported the event," a youth council spokeswoman said, "as well as Te Pou O Mata-Au for the fantastic facilities and staff assistance."
