Top marks for teacher

The University of Otago's Karyn Paringatai (right) was top of the class at the national Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards presented at Parliament last night.

Dr Paringatai, a lecturer at Te Tumu - School of Maori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies, won both the Supreme Award and the Kaupapa Maori category.

Half of the 16 teachers honoured last night were from Dunedin, either Otago Polytechnic or the university.
