Dunedin artists’ community group Thirty Women will present its first group exhibition, "Our Life and Times", from next week the Otago Art Society galleries.

Thirty Women is a budding group of Dunedin artists keen to make contact with women in that busy time of life, often in their 30s.

The group aims to help women find creative peers among other women in the middle of life — starting families, raising children, becoming homeowners, working full-time jobs, or trying to move up in their careers. All are juggling chaos and commitments, while still nourishing their creative selves and their art.

The group comprises a wide range of cultures, and includes women originally from Alaska, Chile, Germany and Taiwan.

The exhibition will be a showcase of this diversity, each artist contributing two to three works and a short bio.

During the exhibition, which will run from today (October 26) to November 12, local poet, writer and artist Susan Wardell will host a workshop on November 4 introducing the idea of ekphrastic poetry, poems written about works of art.

All works will be for sale. The exhibition is open 10am-4pm daily at the Otago Art Society, first floor, the Dunedin Railway Station.
