Central Otago residents can get their hands on tickets for the region’s favourite party ahead of everyone else.

Alexandra Blossom Festival tickets have hit the shelves and Locals Tickets — otherwise known as early bird tickets — mean avoiding queues on the day.

Shops, banks and dairies in Alexandra and Clyde with Alexandra Blossom Festival posters on display will have tickets available until the Thursday before the festival.

Tickets will also be available in Alexandra from Central Stories, Unichem Pharmacy and Alexandra Community House.

Early bird tickets are $6 each and children under 5 years old enter free.

Out-of-town visitors can get their tickets at the gate on the day for $10 (children under 5 free).

The 66th Alexandra Blossom Festival runs from September 22-24. New Zealand’s longest-running festival will be full of quintessentially Kiwi events, including Friday night’s Mardi Gras and fireworks display, the iconic Grand Parade and Party in the Park.

On Saturday, trucks, florries, blossom floats and princesses will proceed down Centennial Ave celebrating spring — and all things Alexandra.

Saturday in the Park will feature carnival rides, market stalls, food trucks, children’s entertainment and headline acts — two Queenstown bands, Ginger and Tonic and Highland Storm, as well as Alexandra local Paul Foulds.
