A man hiding a knife followed a woman while threatening to kill her in Dunedin yesterday, police say.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police were called to Filleul St at 2pm after members of the public stopped a man from following and threatening to kill a woman.
When the woman tried to leave, the 26-year-old man followed her while ranting and raving, Snr Sgt Bond said.
Members of the public intervened and police were called.
He was searched by police, who found he was carrying a meth pipe and a knife.
The man was arrested and charged with threats to kill, possession of meth utensils and possession of a knife in a public place.
He will appear in the Dunedin District Court this morning.
