Queenstown artist Sunhee Shin won the top $3000 Best of Exhibition prize at the 2013 Locations Art Awards on Friday.
Guest judge and award-winning Cromwell artist Deidre Copeland told entrants, guests and supporters she chose Shin's ''beautifully detailed'' oil painting Water Lilies because it kept ''pulling me back for more.''
Ro Bradshaw, of Arrowtown, was named First Runner-Up and won $500 at Art Zone. Sue Wademan, of Queenstown, won the Local Artist Merit Award and a $300 voucher from the Framing Studio.
Lyndal Cruickshank, of Arrowtown, was highly commended and won $300 from SBS Bank. Alan Waters, of Cromwell, was also highly commended and won $300 from Ivan Clarke Gallery.
Amber MacMillan, of Cromwell, won the Jump into Art encouragement award and $200 courtesy of Guided Walks New Zealand.
Kathryn Pender, of Queenstown, won the Most Out There Artwork award and a $120 coffee voucher from Been Round the World.
The collection of 71 original works are on display and on sale in the Cloakroom Gallery, at the corner of Ballarat and Stanley Sts, open daily from 10am, until November 24.
