There is still no date for any further action on new supermarkets in Mosgiel and Green Island.

While Progressive Enterprises has confirmed it will build a new Countdown supermarket in Gordon Rd, it has still not applied for consent.

A suggestion of a Fresh Choice supermarket being built on Main South Rd in Green Island is also yet to be confirmed by the company.

Progressive Enterprises property general manager Adrian Walker said the company expected to be able to lodge a resource consent for a new Countdown supermarket in Mosgiel in the next couple of months.

As for a supermarket at Green Island, the position was unchanged from earlier this year.

He said the company was always looking for great sites and ''Green Island is no exception. However, we don't have any confirmed plans at this stage''.

Dunedin City Council property manager Robert Clark, however, said things were moving along, and the council and the developer had come to an agreement about a buffer between the proposed supermarket, the park next door and also nearby council housing, although documentation still had to be completed.

The council had agreed for Jefcott St to be sold to the adjoining owner, which was no issue as the street was actually officially ''stopped'' some years ago.
