People were travelling to Brighton from throughout New Zealand as well as Australia and even further afield, club patron and life member Maurice Bell said.
He is convener of the occasion and, together with fellow committee members, has organised club activities for October 25-27.
Mr Bell said the club had a proud history and there was a strong camaraderie among members young and old.
The club was established in 1938 and had served the Brighton community in a variety of ways ever since, in surf life-saving as well as education and training.
Mr Bell was among those who built the existing clubrooms in the 1970s.
He said the club had become a central part of Brighton.
Anniversary celebrations will include a formal dinner at Glenfalloch, a surf sports competition, and a public demonstration of rescue techniques spanning the decades.
Members will also participate in the annual White Island race, hosted by the St Clair Surf Life Saving Club.
