Prices continued to reach new highs at the wool sale in Christchurch.
At this week's sale, prices finished very strongly for most styles. With lower volumes of wool coming forward, buyers had to be very active to fulfil orders for export and scouring, Dave Burridge, of PGG Wrightson Wool, said.
Good and poorer styles of crossbred ewe fleece lifted 2%-3%, crossbred second shear fleece was up 1%-2% and oddments lifted 2%.
Roger Fuller, of Elders Primary Wool, said a very good offering of merino wool saw prices climb above Australian prices of the previous day, attracting a full bench of buyers, competing in all micron categories.
There was widespread interest with China, Australasia and the Middle East dominating, supported by Western Europe, India and the United Kingdom.
