Nearly 200 past and present members from around New Zealand attended the weekend celebrations.
Veteran member Bob Stables (86), of Dunedin, who only gave up tramping last year, recalled joining the club in 1949.
''It's a great way to enjoy the outdoor life, with good companionship away from the telephone,'' he said.
''It's an escape from the city; getting out in the hills with kindred people amongst the trees and birds.''
The club was founded to organise tramping trips as the Otago Tramping Club on August 23, 1923.
An anniversary dinner was held at Forbury Park on Saturday, followed by a day trip yesterday.
