Last week, The Star was able to experience three diverse and exciting performances.
Royal NZ Ballet
The Tutus on Tour showcase, on November 9, offered a large Regent Theatre audience a variety of shorter works, including the classical beauty of the Waltz of the Pohutakawa Flowers, Grand Pas De Deux and The Nutcracker, the stunningly modern The Ground Beneath Our Feet and The Sofa and the tender and romantic After the Rain duo.
Wonderful
Richard Huber’s witty new play Wonderful was premiered at The Playhouse by SBZ Productions team’s Blaise and Sarah Barham as Lady Hermione and her loyal butler Roberts.
Combining drawing room farce, romantic comedy and fast-paced dialogue, Wonderful is thought-provoking and entertaining.
The Armed Man
Sir Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man — A Mass for Peace offered a timely and poignant reflection on the futility of war for Armistice Day, November 11.
The deeply moving piece was superbly performed by the combined forces of the Dunedin RSA Choir, St Kilda Brass Saints, Knox Church Choir and Junior Choristers and soloists, conducted by the expert baton of Karen Knudson.
