New Zealand Ukulele Trust music educator Ali Caldwell taught more than 200 pupils how to ‘‘rock out’’ at the third Ukulele Jam held at Tahuna Intermediate School.
Pupils from eight Dunedin schools turned out yesterday and strummed some tunes, excited to participate in a bit of musical fun.
The tamariki were treated to special guests Tomuri-te-awa Spicer, winner of the Ukulele Trust songwriting competition 2021, Pesamino Tili and family, writers of Ta Lau Ukulele and master drummer Koffie Fugah.
The ukulele jam band was joined onstage by University of Otago band Black-Sale House, who Ms Caldwell said ‘‘kept the children rocking’’.
