A man was taken to hospital after an alleged assault outside the Dunedin Night Shelter yesterday evening.
Sergeant Matt Lee, of Dunedin, said the incident occurred in Lees St about 6.30pm.
A 31-year-old man allegedly punched a 28-year-old man multiple times in the head, which resulted in the victim being taken to hospital and needing stitches for a cut above his eye.
The offender was arrested for assault and would appear in the Dunedin District Court today.
