A police spokeswoman said emergency services received reports that the car had overturned on the corner of Jones and Maitland Sts about 9.30am on Friday.
There were no reports of injuries or traffic delays.
However, Fire and Emergency New Zealand contacted Dunedin City Council to ask that grit be laid on the road to soak up any spilled oil.
