New Zealand tennis No1 Marina Erakovic has lost the doubles final at the Madrid Masters tournament in Spain.
Erakovic teamed up with former world top-ranked player Cara Black from Zimbabwe but lost to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-2 6-4 in 78 minutes.
Meanwhile, Rubin Statham has won his first round singles qualifying at the US$75,000 challenger tournament at Busan, Korea.
Fellow Kiwi Michael Venus is set to play in the US$50,000 challenger in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and is drawn to take on seventh seed Farrukh Dustov in first round of the main draw.
