About 3500 attended the event this year, about 2000 less than the record turn-out of a couple of years ago
Festival convener Louise Joyce said that was a good number.
''Otherwise, it is just too crowded''.
Everything from fruit and waffles to seafood and artisan bread was on offer from 29 food stalls at the 12th annual festival, which celebrates the grape harvest.
''It was probably too many, but everybody seemed to enjoy it and there was a great variety.''
As well as food stalls, there were 22 beverage stalls showcasing wineries of the Alexandra basin and a Wanaka craft beer company.
There were about 70 market stalls and live music from four different groups - Les Richardson and his Jazzmen, Lipstick, Les Richardson and Vanessa Kelly and Cruise Control.
Sergeant Derek Ealson said one arrest was made. A Cromwell man was removed and trespassed due to his level of intoxication.
Organised by Promote Dunstan, the festival has poured more than $20,000 into other events in the area during the past 11 years.
