One person is dead and another seriously injured after a truck and a ute collided on a motorway off-ramp north of Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to the Lineside Rd off-ramp of State Highway 1 in Kaiapoi about 11.15am, Inspector Peter Hegarty of police southern communications said.
An ambulance spokesman said one person died and another was seriously injured.
The patient had been taken to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
Nobody else was thought to be involved in the crash.
