A 10-metre launch is on fire in the Hauraki Gulf with two people still on board.
Fire crews are heading to Anchorite Rock on police boat Deodar, but it could be up to 40 minutes by the time they reach the burning boat.
Fire Service spokesman Jaron Phillips said the two people had moved from the cabin to the upper deck.
Other boats and the Coastguard were alongside.
It is not clear how the fire started.
