The Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin spring-summer fashion show at the Dunedin Town Hall earlier this month attracted 440 people.
Zonta Extraordinary Fashion chairwoman Lyn Farry said while the figures were not yet finalised, it was thought more than $26,000 would go towards Plunket's programme for assisting women with postnatal depression, from ticket sales, an auction, raffles and sponsorship, as well as a dollar-for-dollar top-up to $10,000 from the AMP Community Fundraising programme.
"The club is delighted with the success of the event."
Plunket operations manager for Otago and Southland Barb Long said the money would go towards a one-day-a-week plunket nurse position, dealing with post-natal depression.
About 13% of women experienced post-natal depression, so it was an important service, she said.
"This is a start. The community support for this has been unbelievably affirming."
