Police were called to Naish Park in Balclutha shortly after noon yesterday after reports a teenager was brandishing a knife.
Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Balclutha, said a group of three teenagers was spoken to by police and one handed over a machete.
The matter has been referred to Youth Aid.
