Hands were clapping, heads were bopping and arms were shaking, and that was just the parents.

The Wiggles Celebration Tour hit Dunedin yesterday for the first of three concerts at the Regent Theatre.

Today's two concerts were sold out.

Seeing the Australian children's music group of Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt performing in the flesh put smiles on many faces.

Some could not resist getting as close as possible to the front of the stage, hands raised waving to the cast, while others sang along and did the well-known actions to songs such as Rock A Bye Your Bear.

It is the last time young fans will see the original group.

At the end of the year Messrs Fatt, Cook and Page will hand over the purple, red and yellow skivvies to new performers and take on backstage creative roles.

Also given a loud Dunedin welcome were the "world-famous Wiggly dancers", as well as Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus.
