Conservation Minister Kate Wilkinson has made four reappointments and one new appointment to the Guardians of Lakes Manapouri, Monowai and Te Anau. She also extended the term of the Guardians from three years to five.
Teresa McClelland, of Invercargill, was reappointed as Guardians chairwoman and Fred Inder (Te Anau), Ian Welsh (Invercargill) and Marc Shallenberg (Dunedin) were reappointed. Darryl Sycamore (Dunedin) is the new member.
Ms Wilkinson said the role of the Guardians was to advise her on matters arising from environmental, ecological and social effects of the power schemes on these lakes, as well as advising her on the operating guidelines for the lakes.
