The Waitaki District Council Reserves and Other Land Empowering Bill, which seeks to clarify the status of three parcels of land including the controversial Forrester Heights subdivision on Cape Wanbrow, is before the local government and environment committee after passing its first reading in Parliament last month.
Public submissions on the Bill closed on Thursday.
The number of submissions and who they are from will be made public after the committee has considered the Bill on Thursday.
It will also consider how to cater for people who want to appear before it to make their submissions.
Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean serves on the select committee, chaired by National MP Nicky Wagner.
When the Bill passed its first reading, Mrs Dean said, because it was a local issue, she would encourage the select committee to ensure technology was available to enable those who wanted to make verbal submissions from Oamaru, to do so either by phone or video-conferencing.
The committee has until December 13 to report back to Parliament on the Bill for its second and third readings.
