Creating awareness of breast-feeding is the aim for mothers when they meet at Queenstown's Starbucks on Friday for the Big Latch On 2012.
Starting at 10am, mothers and babies will gather for the event, which involves one minute of simultaneous breast-feeding.
This year, there will be prizes in categories such as the oldest toddler or youngest baby.
The Big Latch On record was set last year, when 1564 women and their children breast-fed simultaneously.
A total of 5687 mothers took part in 412 locations.
The Big Latch On was created by Women's Health Action to raise awareness and support of breast-feeding in communities.
It runs in conjunction with World breast-feeding week, from August 1-7.
