Dayna and Callum married in Clyde and enjoyed a beautiful Central Otago summer wedding with friends and family.

When and where did you meet: After a bit of a set-up by my brother, Callum and I first met in Hawea at the Jimmy Barnes concert and from then there was no going back.

The proposal: We had just had our first child together a month earlier and on the morning of my birthday Callum brought Pippa out to me at the washing line. She had a ring tied on to her dress and Callum asked me to marry him. It was one of the best moments of my life! I still have Callum on though, as it really was not the most romantic of places for a proposal!

Where was the wedding: We got married at Oliver's Lodge and Stables in Clyde.

Why did you choose the venue: We chose Oliver's as it is nice and close to home and because we wanted a true Central Otago summer's day wedding. We were not let down, it was a scorcher!  Also we were able to incorporate the wedding ceremony and reception into one venue, which we wanted for our guests.  We put up a marquee and there was still plenty of room within the grounds. The gardens are just beautiful. The bridal party stayed the night at Oliver's, so it really was an all-in-one package.

The dress: After visiting numerous bridal shops I finally found my dream dress on the internet and House of Kavina in Dunedin had it in stock, but unfortunately not in my size. So I chose and ordered my dress without trying it on first. But I knew it was the perfect dress and I could not have asked for anything else. I LOVE IT!  Luckily my aunty confiscated it until the wedding because I truly believe Iwould have been in it every day up to the wedding.  I was so excited and just wanted to be wearing it all the time.

The bridesmaids' dresses: I wanted my bridesmaids to be comfortable and I was banking on a hot day, so wanted something light and refreshing for them. Red is one of my favourite colours and we found these fantastic dresses at Max. They all looked so beautiful.

The flowers: The wedding itself was determined around the flowers, because when is a good time to marry a farmer? Never, they are always busy, so I went with when I could have peonies as my flowers (and fortunately that worked in with the farmer!).  They have special meaning as they were one of my mother's favourites and as she was not there it was another thing to remember her by. My amazing Aunty Sue organised all the flowers and arranged them for me so we had beautiful arrangements all around the marquee and the bridesmaids and myself had peonies as our bouquets. They were just simply beautiful!

The caterers: Our very good friends Mike and Stacey, who own the Omakau Commercial Hotel, offered to do our catering as our wedding present. The food was absolutely amazing and blew everyone away. I have worked for Mike and Stacey before so I kind of knew what they were capable of, but they still exceeded my expectations. Dare I say it, I think the food is what most people remember most about our wedding, there was so much and it tasted fantastic!! People are still talking about it! One of my close friends, Clare, (Cakes of Wanaka) had just started her business and there was no-one else I wanted to make our wedding cake, she is so incredibly talented!

Highlight of the day: Callum surprised me by sending a beautiful bunch of roses which I completely did not expect and the card read : "I love you, don't belate". It was awesome to get a surprise on the day after months of planning everything right down to the tiniest detail. But the best bit of the whole day was being pronounced husband and wife and sealing it with a kiss.

Your photographer and favourite photo: Our photographer was Mischa, from Mischa Clouston Photograpy. Wow, she is amazing! She took the most amazing photos and we will forever be grateful for these wonderful memories. My favourite photo (how do you choose?) is in the field with Callum dipping me. We had so much fun when we were away getting the photos done.
