A woman found guilty of assault after a scuffle at a Countdown supermarket in Rotorua that became an internet sensation has been sentenced to 10 months in jail.
Cherylly Juanita Campbell, aka Tapsell, who is due to give birth at the end of this month, appeared for sentencing at Rotorua District Court this afternoon after being found guilty of assaulting Countdown staff Eric Alexander and Jimmy Thekkakara
The scuffle at the Fenton St store on January 4 was caught on camera and went viral after being posted on YouTube and Facebook.
Campbell's jail term was also for charges including driving while disqualified, refusing to give a blood specimen, assaulting a police officer, obstructing police, refusing to accompany a police officer, and failing to give her details to the police _ an incident that occurred while she was on bail over the Countdown incident.
She had also pleaded guilty to charges of theft of a handbag and perfume.
Judge Graham Hubble also disqualified Campbell from driving indefinitely and ordered her to pay $323 reparation for the stolen handbag and perfume.
She is expected to be released from prison shortly because she has served much of the sentence while on remand.
Her mother, Eve Campbell, was found guilty of assaulting Mr Alexander with a shopping bag and sentenced to 75 hours of community work.
