Former National MP for Clutha-Southland Hamish Walker has been voted on to the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce board.

Chamber members this year voted for the new board online — results were announced at the chamber’s annual meeting at the Sofitel last night.

Mr Walker (35) last week announced that he had returned to his "roots" and joined Harcourts Queenstown as a sales consultant.

The one-term MP was forced to resign in July after admitting leaking Covid-19 patient details to media organisations to defend allegations he was racist.

There were five vacancies on the board this year — other successful nominees were Karen Iremonger, Anthony King, Angela Spackman and executive chairman Craig Douglas, who had to seek re-election because his employment changed during his term.
