Husband on assault charges bailed

A Christchurch man alleged to have had possession of an aluminium bat on the night his wife ran from her home in her night clothes has been released on bail.

Toni Brendan Catlow, 43, was released today after about two weeks in custody. He will have to stay at the house of a long-standing friend while he is on remand awaiting a pre-depositions conference on October 2.

He is charged with assaulting his wife, Joan Lorraine Catlow, in June with intent to injure, and possession of the weapon on August 19.

Mrs Catlow was found safe and well about two days after she left their Dallington home.

Toni Catlow has a status hearing scheduled on other charges on October 7.
