Waitaki District Council regulatory services officer Kyle Thompson-Connell confirmed one peacock was captured on Thursday.
It had been rehomed at the Oamaru Public Gardens aviary, as no-one had claimed ownership of it. Council staff were called to Blue Stone Drive earlier this week after two male peacocks were reported roaming and a parked vehicle was reported damaged.
Mr Thompson-Connell said there were no pressing concerns about the outstanding peacock but the regulatory team would be responding to any reports of sightings, should the missing peacock reappear.
