Thankfully, Alert Level 1 arrived just in time to allow the 97th Arrowtown Spring Flower Show to go off without a hitch — this year attracting more entries and interest than ever before.

Society president Jean Britton said the one-day event was in doubt right up until Monday, when Cabinet made the decision she had been hoping for.
"I would have been devastated [if it had to be cancelled] ... I would have cried."
Along with the best in blooms from gardens across the Wakatipu, children’s gardens, arts and crafts were on display, with special sections set up to help promote the Wakatipu Garden Club, Rose Society and Woodcraft Guild.
