The long-awaited Lismore St Bike Park is already being used but does not officially open until October 25, Lake Wanaka Cycling president Willem Groenen said yesterday.
The park was 90% complete and the track surface had set up well, but needed to be treated with care, Mr Groenen said.
"In particular, the edges of the dirt features are soft and easily damaged and the Pump Track is still in the process of firming up."
The club asks people not to walk on the downhill bike tracks and for riders to ride within their ability.
