Glencoe V C could make amends for his lapse last Saturday with a home-town win at Wyndham tomorrow.

Glencoe V C ran out of his gear when challenging for the lead after 400m in the Invercargill Cup and finished last. It was uncharacteristic for Glencoe V C, who has won six of his 10 starts since he began racing in August.

Trained at Wyndham by Brendon McLellan, Glencoe V C won the Cromwell Cup fresh up on January 8 before finishing third to Artiface and Mah Sish in the Northern Southland Cup.

A 30m handicap should not trouble him in a nine-horse field over 2400m.

Southern Sun has a heat of the Southern Belle speed series over a mile in her sights. She won a 1700m (mobile) race for mares in a 2.00.6 rate at Ascot Park last Saturday.

Lord Forbes has been retired after the recurrence of a suspensory ligament injury.

The 7yr-old entire was scratched from the Invercargill Cup after showing lameness in his preliminary.

Lord Forbes won 11 races from 101 starts and $144,184 in stakes for Gavin Forbes, his Invercargill trainer and part-owner. The son of Live Or Die and Lasalle won the 2010 Wyndham Cup in 3.58.6 for 3200m and he won over 1950m (mobile) in a 1.59.1 mile rate at Addington as a 3yr-old.

He injured his ligament in the 2010 New Zealand Cup.

De Lovely has been treated for a slight infection which ruled her out of the New Zealand Breeders' Stakes at Addington today.

"She blew a bit after she worked on Wednesday and we had her scoped and a bit of mucus showed up," Ian Small, her Patumahoe trainer, said.

"We then decided not take her south."

Paramount Geegee was scratched at Addington due to a muscular problem.

"He has been tying up and did not trot as well as we would have liked in his work on Thursday," John Dickie, his trainer, said.

"The vet has been treating him and I will take him to Methven on Sunday for a workout."

Stablemate Flying Isa won a workout at Rangiora yesterday and he is on target for the Hambletonian at Ashburton next Saturday.

Franco Hemmingway has been sold out of the Ken Barron stable to a client of the Luke McCarthy barn in Melbourne.

The 3yr-old colt recorded three wins and four placings from 13 starts.
