A teenager who was just one point above the legal blood alcohol limit has been convicted and disqualified from driving.
Jodie Elizabeth Love, 18, appeared in Wellington District Court today and admitted a charge of drink driving.
The court heard Love did not believe she was over the limit as she had just one glass of wine on June 14 and had waited an hour before driving.
However, when stopped by police she returned a blood alcohol test of 31 milligrams per 100ml of blood. The legal limit for a driver under 20 is 30mg. Judge Andrew Becroft said the safest rule of thumb was "don't drink and drive".
He convicted Love and fined her $200. She was disqualified from driving for three months.
