The incident came just weeks after a break-in at the neighbouring St Kilda Surf Life Saving Club.
A window was broken and a door handle damaged during the break-in, which happened about midnight on Sunday.
Chairman Cam Burrow said luckily nothing was taken — but the aftermath meant a lot of "niggly admin" for the committee to deal with.
The club was also loath to get in people to fix the damage, given Covid-19 restrictions.
"Unfortunately, in our society there are a few lowlifes running around."
The St Kilda club was broken into in early April.
"Organisations like ours, we just run off the goodwill of the community.
"We’re there to do the community a service and it’s just annoying when people don’t appreciate that."
Police were at the club yesterday morning to look for fingerprints, he said.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said inquiries were ongoing. At this stage police did not believe it was linked to the previous St Kilda incident, but that had not been ruled out.
Mr Burrow said the club had security alarms and was actively monitored.
