Otago rowers were once again among the medals as the national rowing championships concluded on Saturday.
Dunstan Arm, Otago and Otago University all joined the region’s RPC-based rowers on the podium at Lake Karapiro.
Dunstan took its total medal haul to eight, adding three to the five it won on Friday.
Among those was a gold in the women’s club coxed eight.
The crew, consisting of Skye Morton, Kate Hanning, Sophie Thompson, Bella Jolly, Brooke Williams, Meg Creagh, Erica Morris, Holly Dalzell and cox Delicia O’Brien won in 7min 33.17sec.
That left it six seconds ahead of second place.
Thompson and Jolly then combined to take bronze in the club coxless pair, while Kirsty Mahoney added a bronze in the intermediate single sculls.
Her time of 8min 54.76sec was just 0.01 seconds off silver.
University’s Hannah Coulter bagged two gold medals.
She claimed gold in the women’s club single sculls before pairing with Juliette Alm-Lequeux to take gold in the women’s senior double sculls.
The Otago Rowing Club got in on the action when Angus Kenny and Jack McLaughlan combined to win bronze in the men’s under-20 double sculls.
One of the crews to beat them was the gold medal-winning Southern RPC crew, which included Otago’s Ben Mason.
Mark Taylor and Bradley Leydon were also part of the Southern RPC’s second-placed men’s under-22 coxless four crew.
Taylor also joined Hamish Bond in being part of the winning men’s premier eight crew, again with Southern RPC.
