The 33rd edition of the Queenstown JazzFest plays out today with Remarkable Dixie at noon and the Queenstown Jazz Orchestra at 1.30pm, both on the Queenstown Village Green.

The concerts end five days of live music by Wakatipu, national and international acts in more than 40 free and ticketed events.

JazzFest Trust chairman Luke Baldock said yesterday he was happy with the festival's "calibre and quality of acts" although there were not as many patrons as hoped spinning off from the Rugby World Cup. Nevertheless, fine weather brought people out to the community stages. The Fat Freddy's Drop concert had been very well received.

"The [Queenstown Young Jazz Performers] tribute night was a very special concert and the show was quite spectacular, a fitting tribute to the three performers."
