Police yesterday named a 22-year-old Wanaka man whose body was discovered on the foreshore of Lake Wanaka about 7.20am on Saturday.
He was Ryan Joseph Alexander.
Police understood he had lived and worked in Wanaka for the past three and a-half years.
The death was not suspicious and has been reported to the regional coroner.
The officer in charge of the inquiry into the death, Detective Dave Evans, of Wanaka, said police still wanted to piece together Mr Alexander's movements the day of his death.
Anyone with any information, or who might have seen or spoken to Mr Alexander after he left a function at the Trout Bar late on Friday, was asked to contact the Wanaka police.
