Queenstown's  Ella Spittle has won at this year’s Young Tourism Export Council (YoungTEC) award, it was announced this week.

Ms Spittle, who is marketing manager of Southern Discoveries, won the Go with Tourism Rising Star award over fellow national finalists Moerangi Vercoe, of Rotorua, and Zac Watson, of Auckland.

A YoungTEC spokeswoman said the judges emphasised her initiative with sustainability and her holistic approach to innovation in all parts of the business.

‘‘She is clearly a passionate and skilled marketer.’’

Ms Spittle launched the campaign ‘‘go further, get closer, discover more’’.

The campaign had resonated with the business’ target markets, demonstrated by increased sales of its highest value experiences when her nomination was reported in October.

Tourism Export Council of New Zealand’s (TECNZ) chief executive Judy Chen said Ms Spittle was an outstanding example of a rising star who had demonstrated strong leadership skills and introduced impactful initiatives at Southern Discoveries.

‘‘We are proud to have her as a member of YoungTEC, and now as our 2019 Go with Tourism Rising Star award winner.’’
