England will be in a lather during its Rugby World Cup sojourn in Dunedin, thanks to soap made in Oamaru.

Lavish Soaps, owned by Dixie Boraman and Kay Parker, has made rugby ball-shaped guest soaps which have been given to the team through an Oamaru connection with one of the England players, Tom Wood.

Wood, a loose forward, played for the Valley club and then 10 games for North Otago in 2006 when he spent eight months living and working in Oamaru.

Mrs Boraman said Lavish started producing the rugby ball and fern-shaped guest soaps when her grand-daughter Olivia Black (10) of Timaru found a rubber mold.

She brought that down to Oamaru, and now gets a 1c commission for every $3 soap sold because it was her idea.

Then it was suggested by friends of Wood that some be given to the England team, and 60 cakes will be at the hotel when players arrive tomorrow.

The soap is pure organic glycerine with peppermint oil (to soothe aching muscles) and arnica extract (soothes muscles and stops bruising).
