It was her fifth win in 10 starts since she began racing three months ago. She has also had two seconds, a third and a fourth under the direction of Amberley trainer Kevin Chapman, who races her with his wife, Barbara, and Mike Bowden, of Kaiapoi.
Bowden bought a half share in Twilight Rascal after her first win.
He had not long won two races with Tamanisha from the Chapman stable. A septuagenarian, Bowden is in the ownership of Fiery Rascal, a half-brother by Courage Under Fire to Twilight Rascal and winner of seven races from the Waikouaiti stable of Bruce Negus.
Bowden bred Fiery Rascal.
The Chapmans had raced Twilight Rascal (by Presidential Ball) with breeders Murray and Marion Herman for her first win at Rangiora in May at her second start.
"It was always the arrangement that the Hermans would sell a half share after her first win," Chapman said.
Fiery Rascal and Twilight Rascal are the first and third foals of Royal Rascal, a Man Around Town mare who won five races.
She is a half-sister to smart performer Jagged Account.
Run Courage Run is back with part-owner Halsey Palmer at Invercargill.
Run Courage Run, who has not raced since November, had his first start when trained by Palmer. The gelding won three from seven starts from the Invercargill stable of Gil Shirley last year.
Run Courage Run was also placed from four starts for Peter Scaife.
Scott Phelan said yesterday he would be operating a Sydney stable for Mark Purdon from mid-October, a switch from Melbourne.
Phelan trained four years with Barry Purdon until July 31.
Mark Purdon announced on his website that he was delaying plans to shift his training operation permanently to Australia from Rolleston due to earthquake and fire damage to his Rolleston homestead. He had announced that he would have his main stable in Melbourne.
It was also announced on the website that Queensland trainer Natalie Rasmussen would shift to Canterbury to be with Purdon.
She was to have operated the Sydney stable.
