My favourite memory of Carisbrook is following the Otago team out of the tunnel on to the ground before the kick-off in the 1998 final against Waikato. The atmosphere was unbelievable. The terrace was a sea of blue and gold flags flying in the wind. We knew we were never going to lose.

I played for Pirates against University A when the curtain-raiser was the hockey game between Otago and India. That was a real highlight.
The ground had been heavily rolled for the hockey. But the temporary lines caused us a bit of confusion.
