More than 80 young dancers, aged from 5 to 17 and attending from throughout the South Island, took part in the Dunedin Performing Arts Competitions Society ballet festival at Coronation Hall, Mosgiel, during the weekend.
The dancers presented 500 items in styles that included classical, modern jazz, hip-hop and contemporary.
"The festival is a great opportunity for budding young ballerinas to have their moment on stage in the spotlight," society ballet convener Anna Nees said yesterday.
The competitions were adjudicated by master ballet teacher Dianne Leathem, of Queensland.
