Queenstown police have charged a 53-year-old man with theft after a significant amount of stolen property was found stashed in the town centre.
The man, who is believed to be from the Christchurch region but has no fixed abode, is due to face court this morning on four charges.
Police found items including sunglasses, jeans, jackets, wallets, goggles and gloves hidden in a public location yesterday.
Sergeant Simon Matheson says tags are still on the items, but it's not yet clear what shops they belong to.
"A large amount of property has been recovered and police are working through enquiries to identify where those items have come from.''
Sgt Matheson is reminding Queenstown business owners to be aware and remain vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to police.
