Otago referee James Doleman has gained another feather in his cap.

Doleman, the Otago Rugby Football Union referee education officer, has been chosen to referee the final of the world junior championships in Argentina this weekend.

Doleman, who has also refereed world sevens series finals this year, has been chosen to control the final after some impressive performances at the tournament.

He refereed the semifinal between Argentina and Australia won by Australia.

Australia will play France in the final.

It is a coup for Doleman to be the man in charge of the final as Super Rugby referees such as Damon Murphy, of Australia, are also at the tournament. Doleman has refereed numerous first-class matches but has not been the man in the middle for Super Rugby games.

New Zealand referees Paul Williams and Ben O'Keeffe have been in charge of finals at the tournaments in previous years and they have gone on to become professional referees and controlled many internationals.

The final will be played on Sunday. New Zealand did not make the top four and will play off for seventh and eighth against Ireland.
