Almost $80,000 has been dispensed to 37 North Otago organisations by Network Waitaki in its annual grants and sponsorships presentation.
Representatives of the organisations were presented with the cheques this week by Network Waitaki chairman of directors Clare Kearney.
Mrs Kearney said volunteer organisations did "fantastic" work in the community and it was Network Waitaki's pleasure to help them out.
"You are a diverse group that makes this a better place for people in our community," she told them.
In total, $77,500 was made in sponsorships and grants, the largest of $9500 to the North Otago Recreational Turf Trust and the second biggest of $9000 to the North Otago Rugby Union.
Other grants were. -$6500, Victorian Town At Work; $4000, North Otago Sports Bodies' Association, Omarama Volunteer Fire Brigade, Waiareka Youth and Ministry Trust; $3500, Alzheimers Society Otago; $2500, Sport Waitaki; $2000, Living History NZ, North Otago Basketball Association, Special Olympics North Otago, St Joseph's School, Waitaki Boys' High School, Waitaki Girls' High School; $1500, 26 Squadron Air Training Corps, Casa Nova Kindergarten, North Otago Art Society, Oamaru Squash and Badminton Club; $1300, Summer Camp, Waitaki Road Safe; $1000, Diabetes North Otago, Duntroon and District Development Association, Lower Waitaki Play Centre, Nicol's Blacksmith Historic Trust, North Otago SPCA, North Otago Toy Library, Oamaru Farmers' Market, St Kevin's Hockey, St Kevin's Rugby; $800, Oamaru Tap Dancing; $750, Oamaru Garrison Band; $700, Scott's Own Sea Scouts, Central Coast Country Music; $500, North Otago Athletics, St John Youth (Oamaru), St Patrick's Scout Group; $450, SPACE.
