Facebook page to be premiered

Dorothy Brown's Cinema and Bar will premiere its Facebook page during its Oscars Party this month in honour of Academy Award contender The Social Network.

The Arrowtown institution's eighth annual Oscars Party returns on Monday.

The popular occasion begins when patrons in movie-themed dress walk the red carpet to the foyer.

Canapes and drinks will to be labled ''eat me'' and ''drink me'' in homage to Alice in Wonderland.

Cinema front of house assistant Sarah Auld will quiz patrons with Oscar trivia and there are surprises in store.

Presentation of the pre-recorded ceremony of the 83rd Academy Awards will begin at 7pm.

Cinema manager Samantha Relph said staff were already fielding inquiries for the event.

Invitations were posted in the foyer and were prepared to be sent to those on the mailing list.

''It's a fun party atmosphere and a great way to watch the Oscars with friends,'' Miss Relph said.

Tickets cost $10 for members, $20 for non-members and seating is limited to 60 seats.

Miss Relph said Dorothy Brown's Facebook launch was a perfect opportunity for party patrons to see themselves in costume online.

The page would contain film and book reviews and become an ongoing calendar for the cinema.
